The Internet’s Night of the Long Knives

Reddit, YouTube, and Twitch launched a massive deplatforming campaign last night. A huge number of accounts on these platforms were nuked. I’d tell you all who got it in the neck but the fact is, I don’t know who all was on Last Night’s List.

I do know that just about every big corporation you can name is applauding it. Skittles, Doritos, Johnson and Johnson, Pepsi, Verizon, Adidas, Denny’s, Clorox, Coke, Con-Agra Foods, Coca-Cola, and list goes on and on.

The ban-wave has hit and better than twenty-five thousand accounts have been purged. Twitch banned Trump’s official account.

All on the same day.

This is a clearly and obviously a coordinated action.

  1. Or (one hopes unduly) optimistic. In other words, they’re doing what they have always wanted to do because they believe that now they can do it with impunity.

    May their failure be epic.
