Looks Like It’s Acquittal Day

Lamar Alexander of all people had the deciding vote.

Apparently, he looked at the big picture and decided not to indulge Mitt Romney’s fantasy about getting on the ticket this year and becoming the savior of Conservatism.

“There is no need for more evidence to conclude that the president withheld United States aid, at least in part, to pressure Ukraine to investigate the Bidens; the House managers have proved this with what they call a ‘mountain of overwhelming evidence,’ the senator added. “There is no need to consider further the frivolous second article of impeachment that would remove the president for asserting his constitutional prerogative to protect confidential conversations with his close advisers.”

The retiring Tennessee Republican’s decision signals that the Senate will not have the support required to subpoena more witnesses and evidence at Friday’s highly anticipated vote and all but points to the trial coming to a swift close. 51 Senate votes are needed to impel witnesses or 50 if Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts were to cast the unlikely tie-breaking vote.

The development comes amid calls from Democrats to hear from former White House National Security Advisor John Bolton. On Sunday, the New York Times reported his forthcoming book alleges that President Trump sought to link U.S. military aid to Ukraine to investigations into allegations of corruption against former Vice President and 2020 Democrat candidate Joe Biden, and his son, Hunter Biden. President Trump has denied the allegations, calling them categorically “false” while meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Oval Office Wednesday. Earlier Wednesday, President Trump slammed Bolton in a pair of tweets, accusing him of writing a “nasty & untrue book” about his tenure in the White House.”

I loved the, “we all know he did it,” sneer at the beginning of his bloviation. What this really is, is Alexander wants to be done with twelve hour days. The math for removing Trump from office wasn’t there from the start, it’s all pointless and while he would personally love to see Trump out of the White House, the only people with a chance of doing that are all going to be hurt if this kangaroo court is dragged out any longer.

Alexander wants Warren and Bernie back on the campaign trail and he really doesn’t want to see his old buddy Joe’s worthless shit stain of a crack smoking, whore banging son on the witness stand. So far the press has done a magnificent job of keeping Hunter Biden’s name out sight but they can’t do that if he takes the stand. One google of Joe Biden’s kid by mister average Democrat and it’s all over for Creepy Joe.

The only real damage John Bolton can do to Trump’s reputation is reminding everyone that the president was enough of a chump to hire him in the first place.

That was Ol’ Walrus face’s last gig ever. Even if the most cucky of cuckservatives cucks his way into the White House when Trump is gone, he will never hire a guy who snitched on his boss.
