Orwell was such as piker. Even our guns are spying on us now!
“Apple and Google have both been ordered by the US Department of Justice to share personal details like names, phone numbers, and IP addresses* for the users of a specific gun scope app.”
“According to a court order filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) on 5 September, investigators want information on users of Obsidian 4, a tool used to control rifle scopes made by night vision specialist American Technologies Network Corp.”
In the past Google has rolled over and played dead like a cocker spaniel when such orders are issued. Apple on the other hand has a record for telling the government to pound sand.
I am not holding out any hope that Apple will stick to it’s principles here because it doesn’t have any. It was founded by Steve Jobs after all. But it does have a corporate market strategy that is based on privacy. “What happens on your iPhone, stays on your iPhone.” Lets be clear, I am not optimistic about Apple sticking to it’s guns just curious.
My daily driver cell phone is on it’s last legs and it’s time for me to upgrade. If Apple bounces this court order that may finally tempt me to set foot in the Walled Garden.
